A Look into Scripture

 

We have quoted pertinent Scriptures on the previous page, but Song of Songs gives us the most explicit insight into God's expression of love, if we want to find it concentrated in one location. This book of poetry celebrates married love at the greatest level of physical intimacy. The Bible often uses physical examples to reflect the Spiritual and the Supernatural Realms so that we may grasp the unseen and experience God's bounty, now. These verses are not only to be a foretaste of Heaven! They are a celebration of the Spiritual longing and fulfillment that we may know through Christ - and also attain in Christ. Likewise, they are a celebration of Love's supernatural design as it spans our reality. Just read the first three or four chapters again and let your eyes widen at the frank presentation of pure, unadulterated romance: "Beloved: Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth - for your love is more delightful than wine. Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out ... Take me away with you - let us hurry! The king has brought me into his chambers ... Lover: How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes are doves ... Beloved: How handsome you are, my lover! Oh, how charming! And our bed is verdant. I am a rose of Sharon." (NIV) This level of loving is the Beloved's destiny. But, how often do you speak to your own spouse like that! How often do you relate to the Lord like that? And how often do you stop to hear Him romancing you like that?

No doubt can be left that the greatest romance of all Time and eternity lives between God and His Beloved, a love that leads us into the realm of worship and devotion before the One we end up reflecting. His Love overshadows our life completely, expanding us, compelling us to serve, for His sake. "And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fulness of God" (Eph. 3:17-20).

Every true expression of Passion in this world belongs to the Christ-Lover!

Christ is our All-in-all!

So, awaken and claim your prize!

Betrothed, I am longing, waiting for you!

Come to Me! Come!

I will show you Love's love - greater than the world can know.

I will satisfy your heart and soul and mind -

Wells of hope and praise, and depths of worship will spring from within your deepest self.

Father, may we be one!

Beloved, at last! Come closer still!

Washed clean forever, My own, robed and radiant in beauty; look into My eyes

At last we may embrace

All Promise unleashed.

Take My ring, jewel in My crown.

Laugh, laugh! Dance and sing - freely with Me!

Rejoice, angels of heaven! For fullness adorns My Bride!

My Lord, I said, face to Face, we are one! Alone in the quiet of communion

In the secret place of joining

I know your heights, pure beyond words.

We soar together, true passion found, leaving all behind:

Measureless sights and sounds and colors are ours -

Azure; ruby; sashes of gold: Cascading sparkles of brilliant light. White fire

Spinning, swirling patterns, delicate like lace or weaving bright beauty!

In surrender with abandon

Moving beyond thought

Beloved, I will release your meaning.

Mighty as the seas; solid as the Rock, I will whisper life's design:

Endless purpose, divinely shaped, no wavering...

Vision held secure.

... And Oblivion's dark wake.

But Peace; soft.

Gentle silence within. Sweet rest now, Beloved.

We are one forever.

Come; see how God will show His Love to you... now

We have usually been taught somewhere in our upbringing that God is unending Love. Maybe we have been told about Jesus too, and how He offers us life. We can become dull to that promise, not understanding its reality. God does offer a gift, and He says, "For you, Beloved! Will you open your heart to Me?" Perhaps some inkling of perfection beyond our knowing stirs our senses - deep within. If so, unfurl a little! Take the good gift and say, "If You are True, I will try it." I tried; Jesus surprised my heart and thoughts and days with more than hopes and promises. They opened wide to other realms. My little willingness unleashed powerful passion beyond expectation - passion enfolding sights and sounds and movements - filled with worship and words of Wisdom; new colors; fresh eyes. Then, after a while, I looked toward Him as my spirit grew, and I saw many other gifts in the heavens now, as numerous as the stars and grains of sand: Gifts for all people of every tribe and tongue and nation... I met Love and tenderness, increasing desire. I saw a tiny seed blossom toward the moment of birth. I saw burdens lift and purpose given... I understood that two-in-love breath a beginning; three-in-one bring the bloom and the harvest. He said, "Now, write down what I have shown you." So, I wrote. And I said to Him, "This is for You, my Lover - my life and my breath. How I adore You! Show me more; only more of You!
