A word from Naomi:

 

I recently read The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis. It saddens me to think that people in our world are living in such poverty and abuse, caused by war, but also trapped by a wrong understanding of who God is. I wanted to give freedom to one of those women living in Afghanistan and so I drew her, as I wanted her to be. This woman is touching the fire of God's true Love. She has been born into a new life which is filled with light and color. Her clothes look beautiful as she dances freely before the Lord. In my picture she is still wearing the dress of her culture but instead of desperation, her eyes have hope as she looks out from within her veil.
